I'M A BEGINNER. WHAT CLASSES SHOULD I TAKE AND WHAT IF I DON’T KNOW THE POSES?
That is just fine, we don’t expect you to. If you are a beginner to yoga, choose classes that are slower paced to get to know the poses and the sequencing. We also offer beginner class throughout each week. Check the regular class schedule as well as the workshop calendar. If you are brand new to yoga, let your teacher know you are new.
WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING TO CLASS?
We have everything you need for a yoga class here at Hanaq Prana Yoga Studio-blocks, straps, blankets and bolsters, they are first come first serve. If you have a mat, please bring it! Please bring some water if possible or get it here for $1. Leave valuables at home or locked safely out of sight in your car.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR TO CLASS?
Wear clothing that allows the skin to breathe and body to move in any direction without getting caught on anything. The less bulky or bunchy, the better. Compression and running shorts will cover your body during poses in which your shorts slide up! Although make sure that your shorts aren’t too short. We have plenty of cubbies to store your things so you can transition easily from work to yoga to other activities.
DO I HAVE TO SIGN UP BEFORE CLASS OR CAN I JUST DROP INTO A CLASS?
You CAN drop in for ANY class at our studio. We cater to visitors and locals alike. If you come more often, consider purchasing a class package, monthly membership, or annual pass. We suggest you register in advance for our classes to reserve your spot. If you sign up in advance and do not show up, you WILL be charged unless you cancel online or text or call us 24 hours in advance to be removed at no charge.
WHAT ARE THE GENERAL GUIDELINES OF MY VISIT?
If you are new to the studio, please arrive 15-20 minutes early to take care of first time registration paperwork. You can fill out a registration form in person or online. Ask us any questions and we’ll give you guidance. If you are attending a workshop, please register in advance. Dress comfortably, clean, free of fragrances, and bare feet only inside the classroom. Beginners should start with beginner’s yoga class.
CAN I BRING MY CHILDREN TO CLASS?
Our classes are open to ages 13+ but are not specifically geared towards children. For children younger than 13 years old, we hold kids workshop and events throughout the year.

WHAT IS YOGA?
There are many interpretations of Yoga. The word yoga means Union- to yoke, to come together, to join the individual consciousness or soul with the Universal Consciousness or Spirit. There are many traditions and styles of yoga, but the thread that weaves these styles together is the root of yoga stemming from an ancient Hindu science of the body and mind.
IS YOGA A RELIGION?
WHAT IF I DON’T CARE ABOUT THE SPIRITUAL ASPECTS AND JUST WANT A GOOD WORKOUT?
We have a variety of classes and teachers to fit all areas of interest.
DO I HAVE TO BE IN GOOD SHAPE OR FLEXIBLE TO PRACTICE YOGA?
DO I NEED TO BE FLEXIBLE?
No, you do not need to be flexible. In fact, everyone who practices yoga is working on something and a yoga class is the best place to be if you have discovered your flexibility is lacking. You should always listen to your body, and in doing this you will discover what your limits are while making personal physical goals to increase flexibility, strength, stamina and muscle balance. "Flexibility is a benefit not a requirement". ~ Lorena S. Smith.
